Emergency Operations Plan
Duke’s Emergency Operations Plan is maintained by the Emergency Management program. The Duke EOP provides a common framework for how the institution responds to and recovers from crises as they arrive. In outlining this plan, the EOP accounts for the multifaceted nature of emergency operations at Duke. The layers of risk inherent in a University that encompasses a residential campus near an urban area, a prestigious medical campus, and a cutting-edge research-intensive institution are numerous and provide unique challenges.
The base plan of the EOP outlines how Duke’s leadership approaches making decisions and communicating about “all hazards.” The EOP also includes numerous annexes that detail Duke University’s response to specific types of emergencies.
