The DukeALERT System will send faculty, staff, and students short message service (SMS) text messages in the event of an emergency. The service is offered at no charge, but standard text messaging rates may apply according to your agreement with your wireless service provider. International numbers can be registered.

Faculty and Staff:

To subscribe, visit the Duke@Work self-service website to add your work cell phone number or other cell phone number to receive DukeALERT text messages in the event of an emergency. Your cell phone number can be updated in the My Info tab. There is a quick link titled "Maintain Cell Phones for Emergency Text Messaging" under the My Profile section.

This number will not appear in the online directory unless you add it as one of your preferred numbers in your directory listing.

Students:

To subscribe, simply list your mobile phone number in your profile in DukeHub. Ensure that your mobile phone number is listed as your cellular phone in DukeHub and not as your Permanent Home of Residence phone number.

A cell number is required in order to send a short message service (SMS) text messages in the event of an emergency. This number will not appear in the online directory unless you specify it as your preferred number. Although students can register international phone numbers, we encourage you to obtain and list a local US cell phone number to ensure speedy delivery of DukeALERT messages.
